A camping trip led to the discovery a lot that was a residual of suburban surrounding development.  Its extreme topography and irregular shape dissuaded builders and left the lot vacant.  Yet an ideal campfire site was found with a long vista over the Minnesota River Valley.

The home is organized as a pinwheel with spaces radiating from that spot with a four sided open fireplace serving as a center hinge point.
