Rural Wisconsin
2017 Unbuilt
In the wake of the depression, the New Deal gave rise to the federal Works Progress Administration. To combat the dust bowl, one of its first and most ambitious projects was planting over 220 million trees stretching from the Canadian border to Northern Texas. Throughout the midwest, other farming agencies performed similar tasks, including Western Wisconsin. Perfect rows of white pines mark the site for this small single family residence.

Parallel to the economic austerity of the time, the home is designed to be self built with only readily available materials. The mass is a compact cube with a superior envelope to meet PassivHaus standards.
